Oracle Is In It To Win It

My kids will tell you that I love a deal. I like a quality product – but I will wait for it to either go on sale or scour the internet for the best price. In the days of old, Oracle had the best technology but it came at a high price – rarely was there a deal. Times have changed. Back in 2019, I wrote a blog about the shift I saw in Oracle. https://eclipsys.ca/this-is-no-longer-your-fathers-oracle/. This shift continues with OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) providing all the same services as AWS (Amazon Web Services), GCP (Google Cloud Platform), and Microsoft Azure – but at a lower cost across the board.

Read that again – Oracle is cheaper across the board for cloud services.

  • Compute
  • Storage
  • Network
  • Egress
  • Support
  • Same Rates Regardless of Region

Kevin Bogusch provided some great examples in his recent blog “OCI offers services for less than other cloud providers”.

If you are currently with AWS and are paying an inflated price for your different regions – you really should check out Oracle. With OCI – you get the same price regardless of region. This allows you to better architect your solutions to be in the right region for easy customer access or disaster recovery without having to factor in a price increase.

We all know that data is the new oil. With that comes the need to integrate and move data. With OCI, you get 10TB of data egress at no charge. Google only gives you 100GB free –  only 1% of the 10TB that you get with Oracle. Plus Oracle does not charge for egress flow between availability zones. As your business and data needs grow, your cloud egress costs will not with be OCI.

It truly is a new Oracle. All the services – without any of the inflated costs. Check out this cheatsheet from https://blog.bytebytego.com/Cloud Services Cheat Sheet
